Asus Transformer ‘triumphs’ over Apple iPad: WP exec
Written by Jessica Clark on July 12, 2011 – 8:15 amHe said the Asus tablet is as good as any Android tablet currently on the market and is also affordable. He relished the US$399 price tag for the starter 16-gigabyte version, which is US$100 cheaper than the iPad2 and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 and US$200 less than Motorola’s Xoom.
Ravindran further said the Asus Transformer’s best selling point lies in its unique keyboard dock — sold separately for US$150.
“When the tablet is docked, the entire unit folds like a traditional netbook,” he said.
“As much as you love your glossy, new tablet, admit it, you miss having a keyboard every now and then. While other tablets have Bluetooth keyboard options, I found them clunky and lacking the option for a mouse,” Ravindran lamented.

British June Inflation Eases Unexpectedly To 4.2%
Written by Jessica Clark on July 11, 2011 – 8:12 am– British annual inflation slowed unexpectedly in June from a two-and-a-half-year high, led by lower costs for recreational goods. But inflation stays above the 2 percent target for 19th consecutive month.
Consumer prices rose 4.2 percent year-on-year in June, the smallest rise since March 2011, figures published by the Office for National Statistics revealed Tuesday. Economists were expecting the annual increase to stay steady at 4.5 percent in June.
IHS Global Insight’s economist Howard Archer said that it is premature to say the U.K. is out of the inflation woods, and much will depend on future oil and food price developments. But he sees chances of inflation peaking below 5 percent.
