Oregon judge voids foreclosure sale, casting doubt on others

U.S. Bank says it will cease eviction action against Martha Flynn while it determines its next step. That could include demanding the loan’s previous servicer, a unit of Wells Fargo, take the mortgage back, legal experts say. A Columbia County judge has blocked U.S. Bank from evicting a Vernonia woman whose home it purchased in foreclosure, concluding in a case with far-reaching implications that her lenders had not properly recorded mortgage documents.
Last week’s action appears to be the first in which an Oregon judge has halted an eviction and declared a foreclosure sale void after the fact. Full Article…

Venezuela to get US$1.5 billion oil loan from Japan banks: government
Written by Jessica Clark on June 28, 2011 – 7:03 pmEnergy Minister Rafael Ramirez said the loan will be provided by the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation and 10 other banks from Japan.
The loan will be used by Petroleos de Venezuela, or PDVSA, to upgrade two of Venezuela’s oil refineries, he said. PDVSA can pay off the loan “either with cash or petroleum,” Ramirez said.
Toyoaki Fujita, a representative of the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation, hailed the deal as an important step toward economic cooperation.
