Sainsbury’s Finance: Insurance is essential for winter travellers

Credit card provider Sainsbury’s Finance has issued a winter holiday warning, following a study that revealed over 11 million people travelled without insurance this summer.

According to the research by Sainsbury’s Finance, people under 34 were least likely to have bought travel insurance for their vacation.

However, the credit card provider noted that costs of more than £57 million are faced by British travellers without insurance.

Sam Marrs, Sainsbury’s travel insurance manager, said: “Buying travel insurance should be considered a holiday essential.”

Another item that travellers may want to consider purchasing before they go on a winter vacation is a prepaid currency card.

The cards, offered by providers such as CaxtonFX, FairFX and MyTravelCash, can save holidaymakers money on currency exchange as rates offered on the cards are often much better than those obtained last minute at the airport.
